I got called out for an offhand comment I made on Duckman's post about local hippy Eli Rayfield. I cynically pondered whether Eli would make it the entire semester, prefacing my statement with "Five bucks says..."

It has since been disabled. (Perhaps the admin frowns upon making bets over the subject of OTR posts?) The proof has been destroyed, and nobody took me up on the bet at the time, but after a bit of pondering, I Paypal'd the guy five bucks anyway. I guess I'm like Ray: I got mad respect for the Internet.

So this doesn't really directly relate to your bet, Pokey, but I got an email from Eli a while back informing me that his time spent hippy-ing it up was, "easily one of my best semesters, as I couldn't just stay home all day, I had to go out and do things, from the moment I woke up until I was ready to fall asleep." I can relate on a very small scale: I've been without Internet access for a week now except at the library, and it's been one of the most productive and rewarding weeks of my life.
