Louder Music Leads to More Passed Out Drunks

Louder Music Leads to More Passed Out Drunks

A recent study done in France shows that people are likely to drink more alcoholic beverages faster in a bar with loud music than in a bar with music being played at a normal level.

Young men between ages 18 and 25 were observed over three Saturday nights at two different local bars in western France.  Young men drinking in the bar with the louder music averaged more drinks per night and more drinks in a shorter period of time than young men at the bar with normal-volume music.

This study can mean many things:

  • People drink to forget about the fact that the music being played in the bar is making them go deaf
  • The reason guys at Players think they can dance is because the loud music has forced them to drink to the point of delirium
  • Loud bars are a great place for girls to find guys who they might consider "drunken creeps"
