Everyone loves Stephen Colbert, but my personal man-crush for the host of Comedy Central’s Colbert Report just got a wee bit stronger, thanks to his latest “stunt” on the Today Show.
At the tail end of the interview, Today Show’s Meredith Viera asks Colbert if he uses Twitter, the popular micro-blogging site that allows people to satiate their inner stalker/voyeur. He responds, in a nonchalant tone, “I have twatted.” Naturally, Viera’s ears begin to bleed from the sound of this vulgarity piercing her inner ear drum and burrowing into her cranium.
The correct vernacular for such a question should have been “tweeted,” and Colbert knows this, because, well, he’s used it several times on his own show. Therefore, it’s clear that this “slip of the tongue” was completely intentional, a final farewell gift to Viera and the red-eyed viewers sitting in their offices sipping their morning coffee.
For this, I salute you, Colbert. Today, you’ve earned yourself a new Twitter follower; I look forward to checking out your future "twats," as well as hearing people bludgeon to death the term 'twatted' in the coming weeks.
