Making your opinion known is usually good for democratic reasons in our free speech society.

But don't be a dick.

This undergrad writes a letter to the editor of The Daily Tarheel summing up his thoughts on how his student fees shouldn't go towards paying for publications that he does not, himself, personally approve of, specifically one magazine, Mezcla, which doesn't swing as far to the right as he'd like.

He really cares so much about where his student fees are going that he is willing to look through every magazine he finds to make sure it's up to snuff for him.

Of course, snuff is a relative term.

You know, a lot of people probably have problems with how high student fees are, and so it makes sense for them to look for any reason to lower them, but does that really justify basically taking a verbal crap on paper and mailing it to the school newspaper?

Good thing student fees don't pay for a shitty opinions page in the DTH.
