When I first read this column about how one of his fellow frat pledges didn't believe in dinosaurs, that they were just a "manufactured concept developed by a vast network of paleontologists around the world," I thought this nonbeliever was onto something. I was all about the "how dare he?" aspect of his audacious conspiracy theory even if it was just meant to stir up some nonsensical debate.
Can a 21st Century Christopher Columbus be in our midst or is he just a frat boy who likes to argue way too much after a few rounds of beer pong?
It turns out that he's neither, just a "pseudo-creationist [with a] disregard of scientific evidence."
The columnist confronted the nonbeliever even though he was poorly educated on the subject of dinosaurs (haven't you seen Jurassic Park?) and learned to be more open-minded along the way. I mean... Fling at the Field is awkward regardless of whether you believe that giant skeleton next to you is real or not.
