Tonight is the night: the end of the long running, award-winning series Battlestar Galactica. For weeks, the show’s producers have teased that fans will finally know the truth behind the cylons-humans conflict and, of course, Starbuck’s untimely death and subsequent resurrection. I sure hope so, because with just two hours to go, the show really needs to tie up some major loose ends, including the nature of the “head people” and the mystery behind the opera vision that revolves around the half-human, half-cylon child Hera.
In all honesty, there’s no way the series can end satisfactorily at this point. The finale has been hyped up to unattainable heights, and with early word that it will focus more on “the characters than the plot,” it’s clear that not everything will receive closure. Still, it’s going to be one heck of an episode - if this preview is anything to go by.
A Word To Series Newbies:
Even if you haven’t seen a single episode, I implore everyone to watch the 2-hour series finale of Sci Fi’s Battlestar Galactica, which is airs tonight at 9 p.m. EST. You may not understand anything that happens, but it will definitely give you a taste of the awesome sauce that you’ve been missing out on these past five years.
If you like what you see tonight, clear out your schedule for the next two weeks and watch the show in its entirety from start to finish. Failure to do so will result in your man-badge being revoked, because contrary to what you may believe, BSG isn’t a “nerdy” science fiction show; it’s some of the best television drama in the history of the medium.
Of course, you must be saying to yourself, “But, if I watch the final episode first, I will know how it all ends. What’s the point then?” To that, I say, “It’s about the journey, not the conclusion.”
