The most iconic and all-American place for young people to hook up is at the drive-in movie theater. When you think of hot fifties makeouts, you think of the drive-in- it's in every single teen movie from (or about) that period. And why shouldn't it be? The drive-in is totally hot. It's a combination of romantic cuddly couch movie-watching and sexy Makeout Point backseat action, a classic peanut butter/chocolate combination. Oh, sure, in the movies it never went farther than first base... but in reality, probably half of all fifties-era shotgun weddings had their origins at a drive-in.

Nowadays most drive-ins have closed down, but luckily, there's one only an hour from Chapel Hill. So if you want to recapture some of that hot hot vintage romance, you should definitely take a date to the Raleigh Road Drive-In in Henderson. It's a bit far away, but it's only five dollars, and after all... hooking up at the drive-in is a goddamn national pastime.
