So UGA pulled off another ugly win against South Carolina and dropped yet another spot in the polls. Let the mayhem begin. Of course, everyone around Athens is bitching and complaining about biases and all other "real" reasons for the drop. In truth, the reason we dropped is because we deserved to drop. Listen, I am a huge UGA fan and love football, but there is no way that we looked like the second-best team in the nation on Saturday. We won, and you have to win ugly games sometimes, but come on. Did anyone else see USC? We were back to our usual dropping passes and double digit penalties that nearly cost us the game. We barely scraped by. BARELY. We dropped because we deserved to drop. You play shitty, you drop in the polls.
If we win the big games in the future we will stay near the top and probably move up. But stop all this bitching about polls when the truth is we didnt play well. I think were one of the best teams in the nation, but we have to prove it. Week in and week out. People aren't "out to get us" as I heard on campus today-other teams are just looking better and winning easier.
One big positive from the game-Matt Stafford. He came through when we needed him, even on a few big running plays. I was impressed. In the end we did a good enough job to win and thats all that matters. I know we can improve. And it still felt good to beat Spurrier while playing shitty.
