It appears that God himself has huffed and puffed all up on the School of Law building. It makes sense- of all the various schools, which one besides the law school would be more likely to incur divine wrath?
Law school officials and structural engineers asked students and faculty to leave about 11:30 a.m. when the windows and brick facade on the east side of the original building bowed out and began to crack.
"There was a class going on, and they heard the sound of windows popping," said Tamar Birckhead, a professor in the school.
What could have possibly caused that kind of damage (OTHER than Jebus)? According to Some Guy, the shocking answer is... it got too hot out.
Because the building was conceived under old codes, it couldn't stand the high temperatures of the past weeks. "If a building was built today, brick facade would have been given breathing space to compensate for when it got this hot," Marvin said.
Yeah, it's easy to see how the architects of yesteryear might not think to weatherproof a friggin'
building. But then again, they didn't have Global Warming (tm) to contend with.
