University of Arizona Freshman Galareka Harrison Convicted of Murdering Roomate

Think you have roommate problems? Well, they’re probably nothing to those faced by Mia Henderson. The University of Arizona freshman was killed last September by her roommate Galareka Harrison, who had stolen her money, student ID charge card, and social security card. Before killing her roommate, Harrison evidently spent several hours in the library drafting a fake suicide note, to give the impression that Henderson had killed herself.

According to AHN:

A 19-year-old college freshman has been found guilty of murdering her dorm roommate last September. Galareka Harrison faces life in prison for her conviction of first-degree murder, three counts of forgery and identity theft.

Harrison was convicted of stabbing her 18-year-old college roommate, Mia Henderson, 23 times in the back on September 5, 2007. Prior to the murder, it is reported that Henderson had discovered that Harrison had stolen money from her, as well as her social security and student identification cards.

According to reports, Harrison was afraid she would get into trouble at school if the information came to light. Prosecutors proved she bought an 8-inch kitchen knife on September 3 upon returning to school after a brief trip home, and used the knife to commit the brutal crime.

Harrison will find out her exact sentence at a November 25th hearing. Our condolences to the friends and family of Mia Henderson.
