UNL Professor Sues for Vacation

Former University of Nebraska professor Allen Bleznek has taken a note from the Beastie Boys and is fighting for his right to party. Bleznek has waged a legal battle against his former employer—for ripping him off on unused vacation time.

Nebraska.tv reports:

A former professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is taking the university to court over unused vacation time.

Allen Blezek is suing the NU Board of Regents, claiming he is owed over $276,000. He says he was paid for only 392 of the 4,392 hours of unused vacation time during his 32 years with the school.

Blezek filed a lawsuit last week in Lancaster County District Court.

Before fall 2006, NU had a "use it or lose it" vacation policy. That changed after the Nebraska Supreme Court ruled employers must pay workers for unused vacation time when they leave a job.

If the Supreme Court's ruling applies, Bleznek should be living it up soon. Mike D, MCA, and Ad-Rock would be so proud.
