Right now, millions of American citizens are making their way to polling centers around the country to exercise their right to vote. While many media outlets and pundits consider today to be merely a formality, nobody is asking the uncomfortable question of what happens if the “sure-fire” victor, Obama, loses.
Well – no one except for John Dickerson, a UVA alumnus and the chief political correspondent for Slate magazine.
According to Dickerson, a loss for Obama would mean:
“… the majority of pundits, reporters, and analysts were wrong. Pollsters would have to find a new line of work, since Obama has been ahead in all 159 polls taken in the last six weeks. The massive crowds that have regularly turned out to see Obama would turn out to have meant nothing. This collective failure of elites would provide such a blast of schadenfreude that Republicans like Rush Limbaugh would be struck speechless (another historic first).”
Statistically, it’s impossible for the Illinois senator to lose, but if the Democrats’ nightmare scenario does indeed come to fruition, who or what will be blamed for this astronomical “mea culpa”?
Polling practices? The liberal media? Racism?
The cynic in all of us wants to say racism, but who knows -- really.
So, what do you think, OTR? If Obama tanks, who gets blamed for this colossal blunder?
