Vice-Presidential Candidate's Teenage Daughter Is Pregnant

Vice-Presidential Candidate's Teenage Daughter Is Pregnant

Even though teenage pregnancy is so five minutes ago, Gov. Sarah Palin, John McCain's running mate, announced that her 17-year-old daughter is five months pregnant.

This does not bode well for the Republican presidential campaign...not that anyone really hears much about that campaign what with Obama spreading hope and all.  In the extremely critical eye of American society, a teenage pregnancy could lead to the loss of on-the-fence voters, not to mention extreme amounts of judgement being passed.

As a creepy coincidence, Gov. Palin gave birth to a baby boy in April.  Said baby's aunt/uncle will be his same age.

Following this announcement, I'm sure the rest of the GOP's national convention will be a great time.

Rachel, I stumbled on your blow by accident. I dont' normally respond to this stuff because I think it's a total waste of time. But, I hope I can help. Your statement below shows your age...young and naive.

"This does not bode well for the Republican presidential campaign...not that anyone really hears much about that campaign what with Obama spreading hope and all."

Someday, hopefully, you will leave your liberal college campus (the "unreal world") and venture out into the real world. A place where real people exist, who live on faith, hard work, and values, NOT hope and all. I've yet to find a single liberal democrat who knows what Mr. Obama plans to change. He is the anthisis of change. He is same old same old politics. Anyone with any instincts can tell the moment he starts stammering, I mean speaking. He has no plan, no vision, and no character. His changes with the wind and hides behind political correctness. Behind the silver or should I say tarnished tongue, is a wolf is sheepskin. Rachel, you have no idea how bad the Obama/Biden ticket will be for this country or for your future. The war is over. It's non issue, we won. They are planning a pullout as I type. Someday, if not already you may have children. Please don't treat them as a mistake like Obama would. I know it's hard, but if ever there was a time to listen to those with experience (old people), now is the time. My daughter is headed to OSU this fall. She knows better than to get sucked into the Abomination. Take a step back and you will see the light. If anything, the Palin daughter's pregnancy will be a benefit to McCain campaign. That's a real family.

@ Anonymous: I am sorry that you took a sarcastic statement so literally and I have no patience for you attacking me and my political beliefs without knowing me from a hole in the wall. I posted this clip because this is something that has happened in the news and it is my job to spread the news.

In reality, we live in an extremely critical society and this is just one way that this news can be construed. If you would like, I could post every other thought on the issue that has come into my head since this post, but this is a website geared towards college students and from past experience I have noted that sarcastic, biased, and controversial posts get read more than those without a viewpoint.

In my experiences, I have come across much more of Obama's campaign than McCain. I am aware that this has to do with me living on a liberal college campus, so do not accuse me of ignorance. But when I write this blog post, it is aimed at an audience made up of my peers--not my elders.

I may be young and I may in some ways be naïve, but at least I do not live my life confined to blind views. I would never call anyoneâs views on politics an âabomination.â Everyone has the right to think as they wish, whether I agree with them or not and whether you agree with them or not. You talk of âa place where real people exist, who live on faith, hard work, and values.â I know that college is not the real world, but these people that you speak of exist all around meâthey are the people that I attend classes with day in and day out. Some of them are out working whenever they can in order to pay for school, others are volunteering in the community. Some are pouring their heart and soul into their studies so that one day they will be able to have a better life and provide for a family of their own. I myself am working hard to secure my futureâthat is how I was accepted to this University in the first place and that is how I plan to graduate among the top in my class.

Speaking of my future, donât you DARE imply that I would ever treat my children as a mistake, just because I may choose to support Obama.

On the topic of Obama, he plans to fortify civil rights and the rights of disabled persons (a platform which I feel passionately about); boost the economy and solidify it for the future with programs following New Deal precedent; lead America to energy independence and renewable energy sources; provide Americans in need with affordable healthcare; create a solution to immigration problems, rather than just stir debate; and help war veterans adjust to and live comfortably in American society. And these are just brief statements on what Obama plans to doâif you still need me to prove to you that I am in fact educated on Democratic politics, I can go into further detail.

The next time that you choose to insult someone, I hope that you can come up with a stronger argument than one based on assumptions of ignorance and naivety. I also hope that you can be brave enough not to post anonymously. It is my generation that will shape the future of this country, just as your generation once had its chance, and I am thankful that I can view my peers as open-minded, or at least tolerant.

If you do not like âthis stuff,â I hope you go back to not reading it.

There are going to be a lot of let backs if she becomes vice president and nothing will ever get done since she will be helping out her family all the time. It is a hard decision on who to vote for, but I would still rather see McCain win over Obama. Posted 09/03/2008 08:12 AMReply

Obama spreading HOPE and all? close to but not quite the stupidest thing I have ever read on this site. A 17 year old girl got pregnant its not a good thing. Her boyfriend however is going to man up do the right thing and marry her. The sexism of course is saying Sarah Palin cant do her job with children but has anyone asked the question of barry being a miserable failure as a father if he were to be elected? Unlike barry she has already been a mayor and a governer, barrys done what signed up drug addicts, thugs and hookers to vote? nice resume. Posted 09/05/2008 2:11 PMReply
