The RCA dome was imploded this morning to make room for a convention center expansion. The former home to the Indianapolis Colts took 20 seconds and 875 explosives to go from a major landmark of Indianapolis to simple debris.
MSNBC offers some context:
Susan Williams with the Indiana Sports Corporation, has an office in the Pam Am Building across from the Dome. She called the end of the dome bittersweet.
"Buildings are like old friends, when you have a history together and this building has a tremendous amount of history," she said.
Besides being the former home of the Colts, the dome hosted several Final Fours and the Circle City Classic as well as concerts and conventions.
Sure it’s bittersweet, but it’s also pretty awesome.
