Zipcar Uselessness

Zipcar Uselessness
The university's position on automobiles on campus has always been that it's a terrible idea--there's no place to park, and what do you need a car for anyway?

Of course, a giant exception was always made for Zipcars. The university has long let faculty use these rent-a-cars, where the basic idea is that a person can check one out, and then return it in under an hour, or else just pass it along to the next person.

Well, now Zipcars are being offered to students as well.

Unfortunately, students can only share one Zipcar, and there's nothing in this area (or probably anywhere, for that matter) requiring a car that, at the same time, takes an hour or less to do. This is on top of the fact that you have to be 21 and/or keep a spotless driving record in order to get your hands on one of these in the first place.

All in all, free buses might still be the way to go.
