New Gallup Poll Gives Obama Massive 11% Lead Over McCain

Guess the Notre Dame mock  election was exactly right.

The latest Gallup poll must be making Barack Obama crack that wide smile of his, and his opponent, John McCain, clench his teeth into a grimace to end all grimaces. Gallup puts Obama at 52% while McCain has tumbled down to 41% after a week of financial disaster and poor debate showings. Many pundits are proudly declaring the race over, even with nearly a month left to go in the campaign.

Today McCain is getting her hard on his new economic proposal for the government to buy up every house in the country (or something like that), because it would shaft taxpayers and give benefits to big companies. Obama on the other hand is riding a tidal wave of support following two (three, if you count Biden) strong debate performances that allegedly swayed a lot of undecided voters (which is presumably now reflected in the Gallup poll). Unless McCain has a third Hail Mary up his sleeve (1. Palin, 2. “Suspending” his campaign) there doesn’t appear to be anything short of an alien invasion that would turn this election around for him. Although with the way things are going, the aliens would probably like Obama.

No, No, No, We must not allow liberal fat cats in Washington DC, or Chicago pols to punish innocent property holders or Wall Street investment bankers. Please, vote for McCain and allow our God fearing country to continue the inspired policies of George Bush. Just say no to deals that limit corporate bonuses. Tell your representative that limits to executive compensation = no deal for main street! No liberal, terrorist, democrats in 2008. Posted 10/09/2008 3:01 PMReply

Vote Republican so that our rich people feel safe on their yachts and so that the planet is left in shambled ruins for our children. Posted 10/11/2008 09:24 AMReply

Alien invasion. Be careful of what you wish for because we might get Independence Day. Posted 10/12/2008 12:44 PMReply

We should do some sort of study on the few people still supporting Bush-McCain in order to tease out how they were left behind in their educational experience. Truly "children who were left behind" I'm assuming it's a scientific process vs. "true believer" Sort of what the Taliban hope for in Afghanistan. I wiah for more for our country, don't you?
