Apple recently removed its $999.99 “I am Rich” application from its stores.
According to the developer of the featureless “I am Rich” application, Armin Heinrich, the application was simply for iPhone users to show off their wealth. The application did nothing more than display a glowing red gem. Of the eight suckers who shelled out the dough for this digital ruby, four claimed to have bought it by “accident.”
The official description of the application read, “The red icon on your iPhone or iPod Touch always reminds you (and others when you show it to them) that you were able to afford this. It's a work of art with no hidden function at all."
