In 2005 Eugene was listed as one of the top 10 cities to get your bike stolen in by bike lock company, Kryponite. Almost 1,200 bikes were stolen, ranking just behind New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, D.C.

Recently, two cross-country bicyclists from Indiana had their bikes stolen while they stopped in Eugene for coffee. The couple was blogging about their journey at The Beanery when someone cut the cable on their bike locks, thus ending their journey.
