Bear Grylls has taught us danger is sexy and let’s face it: We all say and do dumb things in attempts to impress the opposite sex, whether it’s drinking five straight shots without a chaser or jumping off a roof.

But evolutionarily speaking there is a signal behind the dumb and “risky” things we do. Similar to a male peacock’s feathers, this risky behavior says, “Hey I have so many resources that I can afford to waste them on pointless and dangerous stuff.”

This turns us on.
