He hasn't played at Cal for two years, but hey, a girl can dream.
If you pay attention to sports, you know the Celtics beat the Lakers tonight, 108-102, in Boston to take a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals. If you watched, you witnessed the Lakers' near-comeback from a 24-point deficit in the fourth quarter. I can't say I'm happy with the result (I live on the west coast and, hey, I'm from LA), but it's always a good day when a former Cal basketball player makes his break for the big time.
Leon Powe, in his second season in the NBA after forgoing his final year of eligibility at Cal in favor of making money (a choice USC players apparently don't have to make), had a stellar game with 21 points in just 15 minutes to help lead the Celtics to victory. Apparently, fans even stopped chanting "Beat LA" in favor of "Le-on Powe" for a while. Not too shabby for a guy who played for 68 seconds in a 13-game stretch during the season. Congratulations, Leon, and don't forget where you came from.
