Mark Yudof is the University of California's new president. He was previously University of Minnesota president, and also a leader in the University of Texas system.

So he's got experience, big whoop. Why should we care?

Because he knows as well as we do that higher public education in California is being squeezed, and we have to fight it.

Well maybe he's not that gung-ho about it. Yeah he wants more money, so do all of us, but he wants it for the schools. And if he doesn't get what he wants....he'll live with it. So will all of us.

"We have to do more with less," he says, but boy, would more money sound really good right now.
