The University of Oregon's most famous alum has got to be the co-founder of Nike, Phil Knight. He received his undergraduate degree from the U of O and then went on to Stanford Graduate School of Business. Knight co-founded the company with his former UO track coach Bill Bowerman.
In 2000, Knight was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame for his Special Contribution to Sports in Oregon and he is believed to have contributed approximately $230 million dollars to the University of Oregon, the majority of which was for athletics. Donations like this from Uncle Phil means that our football team has more jerseys than any other college team in US. He and his wife Penny have also made very generous donations to such corporations as the OHSU Cancer Institute.
Phil Knight!
