In the span of one week, two University of Pennsylvania professors have landed on the pages of OTR for committing unspeakable crimes against their fellow man.

Earlier this week, it was former Marketing professor Scott Ward, who pleaded guilty to multiple child pornography-related charges. Today, it’s ex-Economics professor Rafael Robb, who was finally sentenced for voluntary manslaughter.

For the uninitiated, there is a fine line between voluntary manslaughter and flat-out murder; the difference being that the latter is premeditated and the former entails killing someone after “accidentally” beating them to death.

Still, make no mistake about it; Robb killed his wife and confessed to doing so after “losing it.” He is, for all intents and purposes, a murderer.

The Daily Pennsylvanian reports:

According to Pennsylvania sentencing guidelines, a standard sentence for a voluntary manslaughter plea is four-and-a-half to six years in prison.

However, if the judge determines that the case has an aggravating factor - a reason that warrants a harsher sentence - Robb, 58, could receive up to 20 years in prison.

Hopefully, Robb receives the harshest sentence possible. Mistake or not, he bludgeoned his wife to death with a chin-up bar over a relatively benign domestic dispute.

And so, he deserves an extended prison vacation.
