Black Panthers Intimidate Voters in Philadelphia, UPenn Student Chats With One

Two men wearing Black Panthers attire were out and about today trying to influence voters. The men were spotted at a local polling place in Philadelphia where one was seen holding a night stick, according to Fox News.

The PoliGazette reports that citizens called the police and one of the Black Panthers was escorted from the scene (another was told to leave later), but not before a University of Pennsylvania "media guy" chatted up the guy. The Black Panther apparently didn’t understand why people were taking pictures of him or thought his presence out of the ordinary. The student explained: “I think it might be a little intimidating that you have a stick in your hand… That’s a weapon.” "Who are you to decide?" he replied.

He's so philosophical, and oh so right. A silly little weapon shouldn’t intimidate voters, right? A night stick can also double as a cute little baton or used to direct people to the door. He was just trying to help, that’s all.

Check out the how the convo went down:

Great, just a preview. Soon we'll see the Obama civilian security forces out side the banks on payday "helping" us deposit what's left of our pay checks. Posted 11/04/2008 4:31 PMReply

I am so scared of large black men. And I'm not even voting in PA. This has to count for intimidation.

Obama is going to make black people the dominate race and make us all eat watermelon: http://tinyurl.com/6jb7l6

CHANGE...LOL
You can't change the way people feel about each other in a situation like this when you have 2 black men in front of a polling place and one of them has a weapon in his hand.
Now go eat some pork rhines and drink a load of fruit punch.
I'm sure the corner store will take your food stamps for the purchase.

It's OK...as long as they support Obama...we need Obama in office...so I have no problem with night-stick wielding Black Panthers intimidating people on the basis of race...

@ Anonymous:

First off, thats a cane...which admitingly is too short for him and could be used as a weapon... but as far as having something legal to carry, well thats something you can't get arrested for. Secondly, the black panthers when asked say these guys are not acting on any official duty and may not even be members.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were actors being paid by someone...someone republican.

Of course the "facts" that someone requests us to check, is the opinion of someone on the scene. Okay, so we're got one person (democratic official) denying there was any intimidation, and then we've got the media outlets saying there is. Including a video. Check the video, and tell me if you were white and were going to vote Republican if you would be intimidated by them. Posted 11/04/2008 6:28 PMReply

The student with the camera is showing fear and inviting aggression, and the guy with the stick is feeding off of it. Posted 11/04/2008 6:33 PMReply

Unbelievable. They should have been arrested as soon as they showed up to a polling place brandishing weapons and intimidating voters, period. Posted 11/04/2008 6:33 PMReply

Now if they had on hoods instead of black panther garb, how do you think this would have gone down? They would be in jail and Obama supporters would be crying racism...Again...

But as long as they support Obama, it doesn't matter what people do.

If they weren't there to intimidate, give me one reason they were there at all. I was told to cover my anti-Bush shirt before I could vote when I entered the polling place, and he is not even a candidate in this election!!
But maybe it would be O.K. if I had a weapon??
These idiots are NOT the image the country needs of obama supporters
