Well, here it is, the long awaited 2008 rewrite of “The List.” Last year’s created quite the unanticipated uproar on campus, with over 60K views and 350 comments, and started Michigan OTR on the path to win it's first "Best Alternative Media" award from US News and World Report. This year marks the second annual edition of the infamous list, and I'm guessing it'll probably cause a similar amount of controversy as the last one.

For those of you immediately asking, “How did you write a new list? Aren’t you in New York now?” the answer is simple enough. I wrote last year’s list at the beginning of the year, so I had a whole year on campus to observe (and write about if you recall) about Greek life on campus. Combining that with field reports on rush prospects for this year from my vast network of spies still on campus, I’ve been able to compile a new list that reflects changes in house reputation over the past year. So without further ado:

If you don’t remember or understand what makes a house “cool,” it generally means it has the hottest, most fun collection of members who throw (or attend) the best parties. It also helps you a great deal not to be boring. Alpha Phi may have a bunch of girls sitting around looking pretty, but I’ll be damned if I heard one interesting thing about them all last year. Same goes for Theta Chi, who besides yelling racial slurs at cops, failed to do much of anything to hold on to deserve their top three spot (and being on SoPro 24/7 doesn't help). Phi Psi continues to be proclaimed as God’s gift to frat life by everyone I talk to (but seriously, fix your ****ing window already) and Tri Delt now rests firmly atop the pile as both generally hot and genuinely interesting to write about (although it is a shame they couldn’t land us Terrelle Pryor). And yes, Pike went up. I even surprise myself sometimes.

I’m sure there are a few upset houses right now, but also a few that hate me slightly less. Either way, let me hear it, and remember, even if things didn’t go your way, you’ve got a whole year to turn it around.

Alpha Phis and TriDelts are getting great pledge classes this year... Kappa is turning into the sorority for hot jewish girls, sorry Theta. EK's rep on campus as the social ones are getting them some pretty good pledges too.

It's not even worth it to give #10 a rank because SDT, AGD, D Phi E, and Pi Phi are all shit and just getting worse.

From the perspective of a freshman guy who just went through the whole process I can see a few errors. Pike is a joke, realistically none of the guys I talked to gave them a bit of respect as a legitimate Frat. It's the homosexual vibe that they give off (No one gives a shit that you were IM Champs). Chi Phi, Psi U, and AEPi should be above Fiji. They all have made a good showing this year and are all fairly well liked. I don't have any idea where Fiji even is and neither do any of the kids I chill with. Sig Ep is not a Frat and shouldn't even be a part of greek life. They bid a kid during the first week of school and then give him a "RUSH SIG EP" shirt that he wears roughly every day while he tries to recruit other kids. Not to mention any Frat that doesn't have a pledge term is not a real Frat. SAE and Phi PsI are both very well liked and are undoubtedly the top 2 houses but give it a week or two for people to get a feeling for both pledge classes and the debate over which house deserves the top spot will come to an abrupt end. Also, ask almost any Freshman guy wether or not Pike should be ranked higher than Theta Chi and they may laugh in your face.

Most of the girls I have spoken with have liked Tri Delt the best followed by Kappa and then Alpha Phi. The majority of them liked Sigma Kappa a lot more than Alpha Phi but have been hypnotized by this website which all of them have read and were reluctant to pursue them as strongly as they may have with Alpha Phi. Chi O should be higher than DG and Theta and yes all of the hot jewish girls would much rather be in Kappa. Posted 09/24/2008 03:50 AMReply

From the perspective of a sophmore guy with a lot of friends in the Greek system, this review is a mix of how everyone perceives shit from outside your little greek bubble as well as what I've been hearing and witnessing from with in it.

Frats-
1.SAE- you can't get any frattier then SAE. They are a ****ing animal house.
2.Phi Psi- preppy douchebags- nothing's changed.
3.Pike-are they gay? absolutely. do they still party with legit sorrorities? absolutely.
4. Theta Chi- great pregame. anyone who has been to a motown monday will agree that they seem to be rollin on E 70% of the time.
5. AEPi- the "best" jewish house, but mostly because ZBT is still technically non legitimate and is small in number. Freshmen girls ****ing love AEPi. Go figure.
6.ZBT-jewish ****s who know how to throw down (bills) and **** shit up. like a jewish version of SAE, really, but trade the pink pants for some designer jeans and a menorah and you're set.
7.Psi U- A real mix here, mostly chill guys who like to have a good time and don't really step on anyone's toes.
8. Beta- Also would be higher if they...well if they existed anymore, really. Likes; hunting, football and eating small children.

Sorrorities-
1.tridelt-you give some, you get some. they've done their part i'm sure in terms of giving some (just ask SAE) and now they're getting some, in the form of more, even sluttier girls- which of course, is just what they wanted. still, they have some seriously hot ****ing girls. Too bad they are all 800 ft tall.
2. Alpha Phi- These girls are PISSED that they've been dethrowned. can't wait to see what their next move will be. Lots of cute girls for certain, but not nearly as hot as their last pledge class which was pretty banging. Also, there are some seriously busted ****ing girls in their new pledge class. What is that? And they didn't make quota? Hopefully this downward trend won't continue or shit will hit the fan.
3.Sigma Kappa- Gotta agree with this one. On the ups. A good mix of fun girls, though I've heard they have something of a drinking problem, as JQ's description of them can attest to. However, this seems to be something they are proud of, so **** it. Outside of that, they seem to have gotten some stand out girls and a good looking pledge class. Weâ��ll see where this goes.
4. theta- i don't give a shit what anyone says, the girls in theta are hotter than the new kappa's; just look at the pledge class pictures, thereâ��s no competition. And at least they give us something to laugh about.
5. kappa- now that kappa is 110% jewish, they have lost their lustre for certain. that is because all the hottest jewish girls go to theta. Still, as always, kappa has some really hot girls. They also seem to have some seriously hit ones. What the ****. Supposed to be the bitchiest sorrority, so own up to it and kick the ugly bitches out.
6. AXO- got them some cuties and some ugly AChiHos. either way, no one particularly cares.
7.SDT- suprisingly good looking pledge class. seriously. Watch out theta. Just kidding, not nearly on thetaâ��s level, but got some cute jewish girls anyways. And some gross ones.
8.ChiO- I would rank ChiO above SDT but I hear they do not go out. Also they donâ��t have any really hot girls. I've met a few here and there though and for the most part they're all pretty cool.
9.DG-DG always gets some kind of sort of hot girls and some ****ign ugly chicks. why so unbalanced? again, no one cares enough to find out. so it will remain an mystery. Posted 10/01/2008 3:22 PMReply
