No More Shampoo Lugging...New CVS at Penn

I briefly mentioned last week that a new CVS would be opening beneath the Radian sometime in the near future. Well, that near future has arrived: the CVS officially opened this morning at 8 a.m.

Yes, perhaps it is a bit redundant to have a CVS at 39th and Walnut when there’s really nothing wrong with the one we already have just a few blocks east at 34th and Walnut.

However, the new location is extremely well-located for many housing situations. If you live off-campus on 41st Street, in the High Rises on 38th and Locust, or in the Radian itself (duh), the new CVS is basically no more than two hops away. So if you need some emergency laundry detergent or gum or condoms, you no longer need to walk (gasp!) five whole blocks away to get your goods.

The only people who ever truly benefited from the 34th Street CVS were the freshmen who live in Hill – God knows they need something to make their air-conditioning-less, creepy-hallways-that-look-like-a-mental-hospital living situation worth the while.

I was able to get an exclusive interview with AbstractNoun, a friend of mine who lives in the Radian and is thrilled about the convenience of the new addition. “I think the CVS is a great thing because now I won’t have to carry heavy shampoo bottles five blocks home,” she says. “And it’s open 24-hours.” Well AbstractNoun, all CVSes are open 24-hours…but I appreciate the enthusiasm.
