Footage of Pillow Fighters on Penn's Campus

If you were walking down Locust yesterday anytime between 11:55 a.m. and noon, you were probably as flustered as I was to see a massive pillow fight taking place right on The Compass.

While attempting to skirt the pillow-wielding rabble, I bumped into a friend of mine who screamed over the crowd, “you should blog about this!!” So here I go.

Luckily, I’m not as perplexed as the rest of you, because one of the pillow fighters provided me with some insider info: it was nothing but a flash mob, which by definition is a group of people who gather in a public location, do something weird and crazy for a few minutes, and disperse. Also known as one of the greatest things I’ve heard of in a while.

Penn student Ahuva Kranzler concocted the plan via a Facebook event, cleverly informing participants to BYOP (bring your own pillow). Apparently, this is Penn’s first-ever experience with flash mobs – and hopefully not its last.

Though I was literally dazed and confused as I exited my 10:30 a.m. class (a state that was only amplified by the visual and aural assault via flash mobbers), it was a nice pick-me-up during an otherwise-boring day. Let’s make this a weekly ritual!
