Tina Fey as Palin on Couric is Not That Much Different Than Reality

This past weekend UVA grad Tina Fey returned to Saturday Night Live for the second time in three weeks to mercilessly lampoon Sarah Palin. The thing about the faux-interview is, parts of it are not all that much different than her actual disasterous interview with Katie Couric. See below:

SNL:

FEY AS PALIN: "Like every American I'm speaking with, we're ill about this. We're saying, 'Hey, why bail out Fanny and Freddie and not me?' But ultimately what the bailout does is, help those that are concerned about the healthcare reform that is needed to help shore up our economy to help...uh...it's gotta be all about job creation, too. Also, too, shoring up our economy and putting Fannie and Freddy back on the right track and so healthcare reform and reducing taxes and reigning in spending...'cause Barack Obama, y'know...has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans, also, having a dollar value meal at restaurants. That's gonna help. But one in five jobs being created today under the umbrella of job creation. That, you know...Also..."

CBS:

PALIN: "That's why I say I, like every American I'm speaking with, were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health-care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the—it's got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health-care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we've got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive, scary thing. But one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today, we've got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that."

Other than the line about the dollar menu, can you really tell a difference? Truth is stranger than fiction as always...

Only three days until the debate!

Maybe it's all, really, an audition! You know, Sarah Palin trying out for job on Saturday Night Life instead of being a candidate for vice president of the United States of America. OMG, Sarah as Tina Fey on SNL . . . "LIVE FROM NEW YORK CITY, IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT!!" -- posted by TaleWgnDg Posted 09/29/2008 09:31 AMReply

Let McCain keep Palin so he doesn't get elected because between the both of them we will be on an endless merry go round and never knowing if we are coming or going. Posted 09/29/2008 3:26 PMReply

Yikes! One of the top criteria I have for my president is that they be highly intellegent. (And let's face it, if McCain is elected, there is a distinct possibility that Palin could be president)Let's also remember that Palin is a young earth creationist who believes that dinasaurs and man lived at the same time, 10,000 years ago. McCain's health (aka: disease) records are being kept secret, but insiders say that people with his type of head and skin cancer have but a year or two to live...not to mention the high risk of having a heart attack or stroke and either dying or being severely incapacitated. Therefore, who's left to take the reigns but Palin. And that's who we want to be in charge of the country? Give me a break? No, give the entire world a break and vote for someone whose lights are on and someone's home! Namely, Obama and Biden. Posted 09/30/2008 02:44 AMReply

SNL needs an impersonation of Pelosi. Her response to everything begins with a rant on Bush, and may or may not get to anything else. It reminds me of people who honk at others in traffic, whose cars have broken down. It’s annoying besides being counterproductive. She's not a leader. She's a bitch. Posted 10/01/2008 1:08 PMReply

Alaska is way out there, kind of like California, just different. Palin appears dumb mostly only to people whose worldviews are extremely limited and who refuse to understand people from other cultures. Take Californians for example. They've got a bunch of queers-thinking going on and they're going to vote for a cocaine-head Ivy League'r as if eight years of Bush hasn't been enough. Posted 10/01/2008 1:10 PMReply

If we're looking for intelligence, the McCain-Palin ticket might actually have more than the Obama-Biden ticket. Obama speaks absolutely nothing, more eloquently than anyone else on earth, and that's his problem--he says nothing. Any real response is above his paygrade. He wants to cut government expenditures but can't name anything in particular. Eh. Eh. Eh. Eh. He bumbles worse than Bush and doesn't actually say anything. Posted 10/01/2008 1:13 PMReply

SNL threw Al Gore off course because it was dead-on target. These comedians are good. Posted 10/01/2008 1:16 PMReply
