You might remember Lizzy Caplan as the goth girl from Mean Girls that Lindsey Lohan was rumored to have started her trek towards lesbianism with. Or you might know her as the emo chick that got her intenstines exploded by a baby Cloverfield monster in JJ Abrams’ last film. Well, now she has a new role, this time on the small screen, alongside Anna Paquin in HBO’s vampire love-horror-comedy drama True Blood.

Not a character from the original book series, her recurring role is a decision solely from the show’s creators who want to spice the show up a bit. And her role, according to her, is decidedly different from what everyone’s expecting.

“I normally play a lot of characters that could be considered dark,” Caplan says. “This is a total departure from that. She’s still really twisted and screwed up, but she’s actually sort of a hippie. She loves nature and thinks everything is connected and that there is so much beauty in the world. But she’s actually kind of tweaked in the head.”
