Student Falls To His Death After Graduation

Alan Kaname Hamai, a 22-year-old Anthropology graduate, was found dead Saturday morning outside his apartment on Durant Avenue. Police are not sure if he jumped or fell, but there is no evidence of foul play. Hamai had been celebrating his graduation, which took place Friday, with friends and family. If anybody has information, they should contact the Berkeley Police at 510-981-5100.

It has been a tough couple of weeks for south side. Hamai is the second student to die in the past two weeks, and this incident took place mere feet away from last week's shooting on Durant and Bowditch. Let's hope students and members of the community alike can make it through the rest of finals without further incident.
