Missouri Can't Finish College
According to a national survey, the number of students in Missouri that actually finish college ranks below the national average.

Never fear! Mizzou to the rescue! MU pulled together a new scholarship fund last week to help first generation college kids (the first ones in their family to give college a go) pay for school. The program will kick off this fall.

Right now, three students are gettin' the monies - but the program hopes to expand to colleges across the state in the next couple of years.

Is this drop-out rate all about money, though? What about the kids that have the cash, but are simply sick of going to class? We all know 'em. Hell, half the people from our freshman dorms have disappeared from campus, and for most of these the problem was definitely not their tuition fees.

The program can't hurt, that's for sure. But other measures could be taken to keeping kids in school... like banning Halo 3 or something (ha...).
