Unfortunately, summer is coming to an end; fortunately, so is the music. Each year, from June to August, artists flood the airwaves, singing about summertime, summer girls, sunshine, and all that good stuff. This year was no exception, and in a sense, it was exceptionally bad. I don’t know if it was the lack of songs actually about summer, or the fact that there are 20 different songs about lollipops; but some were just unbearable to listen to, and few were barely decent. Although these are only the 8 Worst Songs of Summer 2008, there were plenty more that could have made this list—believe me.
8 Worst Songs of Summer 2008
1. Kid Rock, “All Summer Long”
Thank you, Kid Rock, for ruining a great song. Now when 8-year-olds hear Lynyrd Skynyrd's “Sweet Home Alabama,” they’ll think your song was the original.
2. Miley Cyrus, “7 Things”
Nothing beats a 15-year-old complaining about love, and the 7-year-olds in her video to share her pain.
3. Katy Perry, “I Kissed A Girl”
What are we teaching the kids these days?
4. Sugarland, “All I Want To Do”
Intolerable country music.
5. New Kids On The Block, “Summertime”
At last a song actually about summer. After all, NKOTB are the experts in the biz. But when you put 40-year-olds in a video with girls half their age, it just looks awkward.
6. Three 6 Mafia, “Lolli Lolli (Pop That Body)”
You don’t even have to hear the song to know it’s bad.
7. Metro Station, “Shake It”
From hearing the song, you’d think this is a British band by their accents; but no, just another bad California punk band led by Trace Cyrus. Bad taste must run in the family.
8. Jonas Brothers, “A Little Bit Longer”
I don’t get it. They’re not attractive, their voices sound pre-pubescent, and their lyrics unoriginal; “you don’t know what you got ‘til it’s gone”? Definitely heard that one before, and it's not even a good line.
