How To Work Out Online

Last January, my boyfriend and I made a New Year's resolution to get in shape. We committed to exercising and eating healthier, in an attempt to lead a healthier life style.

 

Now, while we had been (mostly) sticking to the plan, this summer it became REALLY hard. We're both working 12 hr days (him as a PA, me working 3 jobs and acting), and finding time to go to the gym, or even for a run (because running after sundown in the USC area is a problem), is problematic.

 

I decided to try and fight this though, and doing some research, I've found some great in-home work out videos on youtube that provide cardio as well as toning workouts. Do they work? Well I've lost 5 lbs since the beginning of the summer. These may not be total substitutes for a hardcore workout, but when you're leading a busy life, something is better than nothing. Here are my top 5 faves:

 

5) 5 Minute Home Workout

Needs a resistance band, so not super easy, but still easy to understand and helpful.

 

4) 10 Min Cardio from Spark People

A great, simple work out for beginners, it literally needs nothing but a line on the ground. It's just enough to get you to break a sweat and your heart beating.

 

3) Tae Bo

Silly as it seems, another great Cardio work out that's not too hard to do. This user has the whole workout on her page, so check it out.

 

2) Swimsuit Bootcamp

Nice easy cardio work out, the user also has the next 7 days!

 

1) 8 Minute Abs

Yeah, the guy is weird and cheesy and uses the word "gang" way too often, but I've been doing this religiously every day and have seen an honest difference. No, it in no way makes up for a real, hardcore workout, but when you're just in need of a little something to get you going, this is great. Plus, it'll help you get closer to the beach bod everyone in LA wants. I haven't tried the other 8 Min workouts (Buns, Arms and Legs), but my roommate says they're fun.
