Austin Welcomes Football Fans And Their Money

UT football means good games, hot cheerleaders and lots and lots of money.

The city of Austin is looking to cash in as the college football season kicks off. Tickets to the season opener against Florida Atlantic are nearly sold out, but tickets are just the beginning.

A new survey will soon be released by the Austin Sports Commission studying the economic impact UT sports has on Austin. The Commission estimates that a 2008 game day could bring as much as $25 million into town.

KVUE.com explains:

Game day money is far reaching -- bars and pubs expect to be packed on Saturday. T-Rex is the kitchen manager at Crown and Anchor Pub.

"Burgers fly out the door, nachos fly out the door, and beer, it's out of the question -- it's crazy!" said T-Rex.

Anything a guy named T-Rex says must be true.
