Terrorism has been the word on everyone's lips for the past seven years. The US has devoted endless amounts of time and money in fighting a war against terrorists, but one person has made the ultimate sacrifice to end terrorism. In a city where your reputation and image are everything, David Malone has risked it all to make a point.
Malone was caught Wednesday night climbing the side of the New York Times building. This semi-suicidal plight was done to express his opinions about Al Qaeda and the foreign policies concerning Osama Bin Laden. The first person on his list to call - The NY Daily News' Jill Coffey. Yes, I know what you're all thinking - he was definitely climbing the wrong building because he should have called a New York Times writer, not their rival newspaper!
This jumbled-up activist spent most of the night on the phone with Coffey while she interviewed him about his anti-terrorist stunt. When asked about his schooling, the 29-year-old revealed that he dropped out of the University of Michigan because the university didn't offer any courses on Al-Qaeda. Question - what university does offer courses on Al-Qaeda? Last time I checked, the US is in this mess because officials don't know enough about the organization, not because we know so much about them!
After a team of the newspaper's writers and New York City's finest spent the night trying to convince him to come down from the edifice, Malone finally agreed to climb down. At about 1 o'clock Wednesday morning, Malone made the journey down but not after hanging a protest banner on the building. Malone was hit with a slew of criminal charges, including trespassing and graffiti.
