Will Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp be the new head coach of Auburn now that Tommy Tuberville’s out? The local Fox affiliate in Mobile, Alabama, seems to think so.
Sources supposedly told FOX10 News that Auburn will name Muschamp as the new head coach… today!
There’s one little problem with that. Muschamp is already the “Head Coach in Waiting” at Texas. That means as soon as current head coach Mack Brown says “I quit,” Muschamp’s got the top spot. And no offense to Auburn, but Texas is a slightly better opportunity.
Make that two little problems actually. Muschamp has also said he’s not leaving Texas for Auburn.
After much criticism in the blogosphere and repeated denials from Muschamp himself, FOX10 News is finally conceding that perhaps it’s not definite. The station is now reporting that while sources did tell them Muschamp was going to Auburn, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says he is not.
Way to cover your ass FOX10. You know if by some chance Muschamp does go to Auburn, FOX10 is going to be all “I told you so.”
