Davis Officers Help Promote Train Safety

Thursday is Officer-On-A-Train Day (no, really; the day includes the hyphens). Don Seil, a California Northern Railroad representative, had this to say:

"We're trying to make the public fully aware of the dangers and to prevent people from getting hit, cars being struck, or any accidents happening at railroad crossings and railroad property."

How are officers on trains going to help any of this? Here’s an idea: have the cops tell people, “when a train is coming, don’t stand on the tracks.” There, problem solved. Anyone stupid enough not to understand that will be sorted out by the oncoming train.
