Fox News' Van Susteren to Air Special on Unsolved Madison Murders
Kelly Nolan, Joel Marino, Brittany Zimmermann

There was a bit of buzz when UW-Madison Alumnus and Fox News' On the Record host Greta Van Susteren was spotted in Library Mall late last week.  Conjecture it was for a report on the unsolved murders of Kelly Nolan, Joel Marino and Brittany Zimmermann were confirmed Monday by Van Susteren.

The special is scheduled to air on Fox News channel, Friday, May 23, at 9 p.m. Central Time.  Van Susteren has posted some behind the scenes footage on her blog.

Isthmus reporter Jason Shepard reported he accompanied Van Susteren on an emotional tour of Joel Marino's house with Marino's parents, who Van Susteren interviewed Thursday.  The Marino's have publicly expressed waining faith in Madison police and that their son's murder will be solved.  Joel Marino was found collapsed in the alleyway near his home as he tried to reach St. Mary's Hospital just yards away after having been stabbed in a stranger-invasion Jan. 28.

Van Susteren then visited the Doty Street apartment of UW junior Brittany Zimmermann.  Zimmermann was murdered in an eerily similar manner on April 2 in another apparent stranger-invasion (original story here).  A botched 911 call has ignited outrage and has been at the center of the investigation into her murder since the story broke May 1.

22-year-old Kelly Nolan went missing after a night of drinking near State Street last summer.  She was last seen June 23 and was found slain on July 9 in a wooded area of Fitchburg, Wis.

Following weeks of speculation, Madison police--who have kept the cases largely shrouded in secrecy--issued a statement Friday saying they do not believe the Marino and Zimmermann killings were connected, but could not rule it out.
