Three UW students were found dead in their off-campus home back in April due to a random fire. When authorities tested the bodies for alcohol they found that their blood-alcohol levels were between two and four times Wisconsin's legal limit.
While carbon monoxide was named as the cause of death for 20-year-old Amanda Rief, 21-year-old April Englund and 23-year-old Scott Hams of Hayward, Dunn County Medical Examiner, Chris Kruse, recently revealed that their blood-alcohol levels were well above Wisconsin's legal limit of 0.08. They were as follows: 0.305 percent for Rief, 0.210 percent for Englund and 0.173 percent for Hams.
UW has a real boozer “problem” according to UW’s own Charles Sorenson, who blames the fate of these young students on “Wisconsin's history and culture of drinking.”
The twisted thing is where the fire started—a loveseat?? Lord knows how much action that sofa has seen over these warm humid days, and now the party has to come to a grim halt. Medical examiners are not sure if the intoxication of the students is what made them unable to escape from the fire.
