It is with regret that I must report that a UW-Madison alum is responsible for unleashing “I’ve Got a Crush on Obama” on the world.

Not only had this ear-worm infested my head when it first came out, but it recently made a resurgence this week, much to the annoyance of family and friends.

If you too have been suffering this terrible affliction, blame Ben Relles, 1997 UW grad and co-launcher of barelypolitical.com.

The latest idiocy released involves two models (who doubtfully even know who Obama or Giuliani are) titled "Debate '08: Obama Girl vs. Giuliani Girl."

The most disturbing part of all is this is practically considered news these days. MSNBC and "Good Morning, America" are pursuing Relles for interviews. The Washington Post did a story about Relles and yesterday’s launch of the “Obama Girl” sequel.

Kill me now.

Maybe the only way to revive the news is to make a viral video about having a crush on Brian Williams; perhaps then people would be coaxed into bothering to watch the actual news. Pipe dream, I know.

At least it’s better than Paris Hilton “news.”
