Fanny packs ain't just for Hulk Hogan anymore, not if the Madison Police Department has any say in the matter.  Want to avoid having your (man) purse stolen?  Rock a fanny pack.  Of course.

After an 82-year-old woman's purse was stolen out of her shopping cart at Woodman's grocery store Monday afternoon, MPD brainstormed how to end the senseless crimes.  One visionary had the genius idea to inform the public of the not only secure, but functional packs.  The release offers this tip to "carry a fanny pack containing only the items needed (cash, credit card, driver's license etc.) for shopping."  Or...uh...put them in your pocket.

Though fanny packs do have additional positives.  Your hot pink polo with the popped collar ain't doing the trick?  Up your tool-factor with a rockin' fanny pack.  Always wanted to have that "classic" look, but mom jeans just aren't your thing?  Fanny pack!  You can also fill it with quarters and pummel your attacker.
