What’s stranger than a bunch of guys sitting in a room staring at Playboy together? That’s easy – a bunch of guys sitting in a room discussing Playboy articles. Our friends at Columbia’s BWOG are reporting that the fancy pants guys at Columbia have started a Playboy Book Club, a little weird?

The book club was started to discuss Denis Johnson’s serial novel Nobody Move currently running in Playboy. Nobody Move will be run in four installments which started last month and will end in October. Much to my surprise, Johnson’s no dummy, he holds a Master’s degree from University of Iowa, won a National Book Award and he was even a Pulitzer Prize finalist.

After mentioning all that, I have to wonder – why the downgrade? I was always under the impression that people only subscribed to Playboy for the photos, but apparently I was wrong. Johnson must have known that Playboy sales are doing very well and that men would stop to read an article or two after casually glancing at the nude models. BWOG has posted some of the Book Club's discussion up for all to see, hoping that the preview will recruit new members to their club.
