Students Patrol Streets to Fight Crime

Students Patrol Streets to Fight Crime
Well-intentioned but not all that comforting.

Associated Students of Madison launched its Neighborhood Watch Program Friday.

Students volunteers will patrol the Spring Street/College Court and Camp Randall areas in two shifts every Friday and Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. and 12 a.m. to 2 a.m.  There will be two teams patrolling each location, outfitted in bright yellow T-shirts and reflective armbands, and equipped with flashlights  and emergency contact cards.

So enough about the volunteers who will be fighting crime and protecting students: who's going to protect them

No offense. The program is well-intentioned and these people are wonderful for volunteering, but hopefully the photo is not a representative sample of the volunteers. Where's the 6 foot, 300 pound dude with "Hugo" embroidered on his yellow T-shirt?
