What to Drink on Halloween

What to Drink on Halloween

In Madison, Halloween is one of the most awaited holidays to hit State Street. People from all over the world fly in to show off their most original ensemble as they try not to get arrested. If you aren’t feeling the spooky spirit yet, here’s a little something to get you in the mood. A few haunted drinks that are guaranteed to please, or at least haunt the toilet bowl the next morning. Now that’s gruesome…

The Smashing Pumpkin shot, a guaranteed favorite amongst your friends who are looking for their own landslide. Mix 1/3 oz. Kahlua, 1/3 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream, and a 1/3 oz. of Goldschlager over ice, pour them into shot glasses, and you’ve got a hit.

If you are looking for something a little scarier, the Freddy Kruger shot will definitely kill. Equal parts of Jagermeister, Sambuca, and Vodka into chilled shot glasses might lead to a hangover, but most certainly not a nightmare.

For those who are looking for something a little sweeter with fewer spooks, The Candy Corn shot will certainly satisfy those guests who think Halloween is about candy and pumpkin carving, rather than blood and ax-murderers. Mix 1 part Bailey’s Irish cream, 1 part butterscotch Schnapps and a splash of vanilla liqueur into a shaker with ice, and you’ve got yourself the perfect treat.

Back to the kids who love a little guts with their Halloween: The Brain Tumor shot might make you gag on sight, but it won’t taste anything tumor-esque going down. The shot requires adding 1 oz. peach Schnapps to a shot glass, slowly adding Bailey’s Irish cream (don’t mix-formation of brain tumor) and then ½ tsp of Grenadine. Watch out drinkers, this could be malignant.

Any true party thrower knows that you can’t throw a party without a little punch. This Spooky Juice might not cause you to feel the spirits, but it might cause you to feel the spins. To make this juice, add 1 oz. vodka, 2 dashes of blue Curacao, 1 dash of Grenadine, fill the rest with orange juice and add some ice.

So if you weren’t in the spirit before, I hope these drinks change your mood. What better way to enjoy the weekend with great friends, slutty costumes, and a few new drinks to get the crowd bewitched.
