The Perfect Spring Break

Though you may have just booked your ticket home for winter break, it’s already time to start planning that big break away from school and into the sun. I’m talking about spring break; the fun filled week where you and your friends travel off to a remote island filled with booze and boys in order to let off a little (or a lot) of steam from your busy semester. With so many packages and deals, it seems crazy not to book a trip of a lifetime for that little week in the spring. Though it’s a little early to start advising you to pack the sun tan lotion and throw away all white t-shirts (wet t shirt contest), it’s definitely not too early to start planning the week that was intended to be wild.

You are probably asking: where should I go? Here are a few places that are guaranteed to show you and your friends a good time. Make sure to book a ticket home; once you are thoroughly soaked in the sun, you may never want to return to the weather of Madison.

Cancun, Mexico: a hot-weathered favorite that brings in thousands of college students each year during spring break. And if celeb-spotting is on your spring break agenda, Cancun was notorious for having big names such as Akon, Method Man, and Fergie perform on stages in the sun last year. Though the sand and sun are worth the trip, watch out for high school seniors who are venturing on their first spring break. Cancun is notorious for underage highschoolers looking for a fun time without mom & dad.

Bahamas: Located 70 miles off the southern coast of Florida, this spring break getaway is famous for its white sand beaches and crystal clear ocean water. But if you are looking for a little more than a tan, everything that goes down on the island is notorious for being crazy and totally college-kid oriented.

Montego Bay, Jamaica: Out of all the places in Jamaica, “mo bay” is notorious for being the wildest spring break spot. For those of us who aren’t ready to put down the books and still want to learn something, Montego Bay is home to the Appleton sugar factory where rum is made. With various discos and reggae spots, Montego Bay is a must for you and your friends.
 

Acapulco: A true Coastie favorite, calls all of those from LA & New York to participate in a week where clubs like Mandara & Palladium are frequented all night long. If you are looking for a mixture of partying with paradise, Pulco brings it all together for the true spring-breaker.
But if you ultimately are a coastie-hater and find that being with them at school is already too much, this place probably isn’t for you. Oh well, better luck next year.

As I sit in my freezing apartment bundled in blankets and a hoodie, I wish spring break was tomorrow, rather than in April. But fortunately for great websites like the ones listed above, I can dream through pictures and descriptions of what my week away from school will be like. Who knows, I’ll probably have to look back at my own pictures to remember what all these months of planning ultimately resulted in.
