We all have witnessed the role of gender inequality in our daily lives, but these new figures go beyond than most would think girls face.

A new study paints a dark picture of our state's young women.  According to the Status of Girls report, more than one third of high school girls have had five or more drinks in a single sitting in the past month.

On an even more scary note, 42 percent of girls 15 or younger reported that their first sexual encounter was not consensual.

The senior vice president for the college that put the survey on could only describe it as "pretty shocking."
