Now, I know times have changed from when a date meant a man picking up the tab for everything. I verily believe that a relationship is a partnership, I support equality between the genders, I think Title IX is great and all that jazz.

But when a guy can’t be enough of a gentleman to graciously pick up cab fare but rather gets in an argument with his girlfriend about how much she owes him for said fare, and then proceeds to be tentatively charged with robbery, false imprisonment and battery from the argument ensuing over said fare, that man has not just proved that chivalry is dead, he’s shat on its tombstone.

And when that guy is a scholarship athlete and the No. 2 running back for my school, and that bit of highly ungentlemanly behavior gets him suspended from the Badger football team two weeks before preseason practice starts up, I double-damn his crudeness and hope to high Heaven P.J. Hill can hold up the team until this gets sorted out.
