Bakersfield: California's Home for Uneducated, Overzealous Religious Nutjobs
Black Jesus will smite you.

Remember when you learned about the Constitution in elementary school, and about that whole "separation of Church and State" thing? Apparently, they don't teach that in Bakersfield.

This week, the Bakersfield School Board voted to display the words "In God we trust" in classrooms and offices throughout the district. This was a rousing success for Evangelical Pastor Chad Vegas, who successfully led a crusade (yes, crusade) last year to "change the official names of winter and spring breaks to Christmas and Easter recesses."

This is California, not Alabama. Well, it's really that middle part that you drive through at 80 miles per hour, but still. Get a grip, Bakersfieldians.
