Happy Olympics! Today, other than being a generally stupendous Friday,  marks the day that the games begin. Even if the closest you've ever come to playing a competitive sport is beer pong in the Pike basement, then today's still the day for you! Celebrate the start of the Olympic games with some of these Olympic-themed New York bar specials:

The Village Pourhouse: Beer Olympics start at 8PM. Complimentary bar tabs and gift certificates to gold, silver, and bronze medalists. The Beerlympics will continue every day for the next 2 weeks, so if you can't make it tonight, check it out sometime soon! (64 3rd Avenue @ 11th St.)

Gym: The only gay sports bar in NYC, Gym, is hosting a variety of Olympic-themed activities such as the Opening Ceremony tonight ($5 PINK vodkas all night) and the Flip Cup Olympics on August 14th ($3 jello shot special). Check out  their website for more drink special info! (167 8th Ave @18th St.)

SideBar:  Check out the Around-The-World special at Sidebar on August 16th. $20 cover gets you access to 7 bars serving beers from around the world for $1 or $2 each. Bars include Bar None and Bullshead Tavern, Beers include Red Stripe and Stella (120 East 15th @ Irving Place)
