Keep Your Facebook PG-13, Says New Survey

According to Careerbuilder.com, we're being watched.

A recent  Careerbuilder survey says that 20% of hiring managers like to scope out their potential employees on MySpace and Facebook before they hire them.

We've all heard horror stories about not being hired due to inappropriate pictures, or worse, being fired for the same reason, and apparently, business related Facebook stalking is on the up and up.--in 2006, only 11% of hiring managers said they used social networking sites to check out their employees.

References to drinking and drug use were the most highly frowned upon by managers, inappropriate pictures were a close second.

My Facebook, although blocked on all levels to everyone except my friends, isn't edited for office use--I would say about 75% of my pictures would be considered "inappropriate"--my stance is that if my profile is private, future employers have no way of seeing what a drunken mess I am.

How about you?

Have you edited your Facebook for potential employers?

Yes--it's stupid not to. Mine's super appropriate.

Yes--but only slightly. I untag pictures in which I am blatantly blacked out.

No--but my profile is blocked.

No--there's no way employers actually do this.
